چکیده
The impact of climate change is a global threat, and its effect more pronounced in developing countries. It vital to link physical data analysis with endogenous knowledge practices farmers strengthen their adaptive capacity. This study was conducted explore spatial variability temporal trends temperature rainfall association farmers’ perceptions adaptation strategies Southwest Ethiopia. Daily twelve weather stations were collected from the National Meteorological Agency Ethiopia for period 1983 2016. Farmers’ about assessed through survey. Spatial analyzed using ArcGIS R software. Sen’s slope estimator Mann–Kendall’s trend tests used detect magnitude statistical significance changes temperature. showed high over region. There no consistent significant annual seasonal area. Significant upward maximum minimum temperatures reported all stations. Accordingly, increased by 0.71 0.65°C, respectively, Farmers had good awareness impact. Adaptation included soil water conservation (66.21%), crop diversification (62.16%), modifying planting date (42.56%), agroforestry (35.13%), use drought-tolerant variety (33.95%), early maturing (27.03%), livelihood (25.42%). As most these familiarized small number farmers, further effort needed identify factors limiting adoption strategies. Furthermore, additional planned supports that widen available options at disposal should be introduced

INTRODUCTION In Zambia, agriculture continues to be an important source of livelihood, supporting about 70% of the population. The country’s agriculture sector is dominated by small scale rural farmers, who largely depend on rain for crop production, mainly due to the absence of irrigation equipment in most rural communities. Thus any change in climate, mostly manifested as an increase in frequ...

This paper starts with summarizing the indications for climate change as they are reviewed in the most recent WMO global climate system reviews. There are indications in the paper for increasing climate variability in certain areas. Some of the principal causes of increasing climate variability and climate change (ICV & CC) are a mixture of external and internal factors to the climate system. O...
متن کاملClimate Trends and Farmers' Perceptions of Climate Change in Zambia.
A number of studies use meteorological records to analyze climate trends and assess the impact of climate change on agricultural yields. While these provide quantitative evidence on climate trends and the likely effects thereof, they incorporate limited qualitative analysis of farmers' perceptions of climate change and/or variability. The present study builds on the quantitative methods used el...
